During the third quarter of 2022, the province of Maguindanao was divided into two distinct and independent provinces, namely, Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 11550. This was ratified by the plebiscite conducted on 17 September 2022.

Additionally, by the virtue of RA 11544 and ratification through the plebiscite conducted on 03 September 2022, the Municipality of Calaca in the province of Batangas was converted into City of Calaca. Moreover, Barangay New Canaan in the Municipality of Alabel, Sarangani was created through Provincial Ordinance No. 2009-6-044 dated 29 June 2009 and was ratified through the plebiscite conducted on 20 August 2022.

Furthermore, the names of 44 barangays in the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) masterlist were corrected based on the recommendations of the interagency Technical Working Group on Geographic Code (TWGGC) as follows:
